General Internal Medicine

A community based general internal medicine specialist providing comprehensive consultant in-patient and out-patient services PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Daily rounds on patients, including facilitation of timely discharge - Availability to participate in hospital committees pertaining to specialty - Participate in teaching rounds as available OFFICE: - Must maintain community office practice On-Call: - On-call responsibilities include 1 in 9 for Internal Medicine - Timely response to request for consultations in the ER and inpatient units RESOURCES: - Available outpatient clinics includes: Diabetes Clinic, Heart Function Program, and Stress Testing - ECG and Holter Monitoring are shared amongst the group - Outpatient clinic for minor procedures Administrative and Quality: - Participation in strategic planning and program development of medical services. - Participation in ongoing quality improvement and safety activities related to medical care. - Participation in hospital committees pertaining to speciality and as required by the credentialed staff by-laws. - Efficient use of resources. REMUNERATION: - Fee for Service - HOCC for on-call - In hospital cardio diagnostic procedures are billed by hospital and then paid monthly Requirements College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) unrestricted license that allows the physician to fulfill the requirements of this position. Fellowship in Internal Medicine recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
