Key Responsibilities Preoperative Duties: Verify patient identity, surgical site, and consent; position patient appropriately; help prepare room prior to patient arrival; assist with anesthetic procedures/induction. Intraoperative Assistance: Assist with tissue retraction, hemostasis, and closure. Postoperative Care: Apply dressings, assist with patient transfer, and monitor for immediate complications. Assist with tear-down of room to facilitate cleaning and turnover for the next case. Team Collaboration: Function as a valued member of the interprofessional healthcare team by providing support to Surgical, Anesthesia and Nursing colleagues during surgical procedures and perioperative care. After Hours Coverage: It is expected that the Surgical Assistants will provide after-hours on-call coverage. A stipend through HOCC is provided for each on-call shift. The Practice: Competitive compensation with no overhead expenses. Potential for daytime and after-hours on-call coverage shifts Requirements Must hold a valid certificate of registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and appropriate Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) coverage. Must apply for and be successfully credentialed by the hospital prior to commencing duties. Independent License or eligible for Independent License with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) FRCP(C) or CCFP Eligible to work in Canada without restrictions
