Service Needs: The Meaford hospital has 17 inpatient medical beds, with the potential for 1 or 2 patients held in the ED (varies daily). Locum physicians would provide weekly support for all admitted inpatients, with the support of the Nurse Practitioner. The inpatient list generally includes approximately 6 to 7 ALC patients. Specialist support provided via Brightshores Health System and related specialty services. Transfers to Level 2 or Level 3 beds facilitated via the Owen Sound hospital. MRI, CT, interventional radiology, cardiology services, stroke and cancer programs based in Owen Sound as well. Schedule: Inpatient care coverage is currently scheduled Wednesday to Tuesday. Option for a split week based on locum availability may be provided, pending overall physician resources. Emergency physician handover occurs at 7 AM, therefore the incoming locum physician should be available by phone between 6 AM and 7 AM to discuss patient handover for admitted patients. Daily rounds typically run from 8 AM to 9 AM, however flexibility is available. Following rounding of admitted patients, physician can provide phone support for the remainder of the day. After 10 PM, on-site issues are covered by the Emergency Physicians. Requirements Physicians should hold valid CPSO license and applicable CFPC certification (or eligible equivalent). General Internal Medicine designation also eligible. Benefits Compensation Model: A blended compensation model is offered as part of this locum. Physicians bill OHIP for direct patient encounters and also receive a weekly stipend of to care for up approximately 17 inpatients. Travel and Accommodation: Brightshores can offer interim accommodations in Meaford or through our shared locum condo located in Owen Sound (details to be provided).
