St. Francis Memorial Hospital (SFMH) in Barry's Bay, ON, is a 20-bed rural facility noted for its progressive programs and friendly work environment with a dedication to providing Excellence in Rural Healthcare. SFMH is also a fully accredited hospital offering both medical and complex continuing in-patient care, emergency care and a full range of diagnostic and clinical services. Located approximately 1 hour from Renfrew and Pembroke, 30 minutes from Algonquin Park and 2 hours from Ottawa, the area offers exceptional natural beauty with year-round recreational activities such as mountain biking, ATV’s, snowmobiling, water
sports, hiking and camping, while maintaining easy access to urban centres. The Madawaska Valley is also known for its talented Arts community and warm hospitality.
SFMH is looking for family physicians with an interest in working on our medical unit. Emergency Department shifts are also available (but not mandatory) for those with an interest. Hospitalists are typically booked for 7-days, Tuesday-Tuesday. Option to supplement hospitalist week on the medical unit with other work (e.g., clinic locums). On the inpatient unit: 20 medical beds and is remunerated via Fee for Service billings (approximately $3-$4K OHIP billings per week) and Burden Based On-Call (BOCC). Remuneration for 7-days of Hospitalist, supplemented with clinic work (FHO+), can expect to earn approximately 10K for the 7-day week.
Our ER sees 11,000 patients per year (approx. 30/day, more in the summer months; average CTAS level 3). Remuneration in the ER is $200/h (day), $220/h (Weekends), and $250/h on Stat holidays. These rates do not include private and shadow billing (10% of submitted amount, additional 25% for holidays and seasonal, and 35% for Summer).

The ideal candidate will be fully licensed in family medicine in Ontario and have current ACLS.
